Richard Petty’s 403-Acre Gift: Victory Junction’s Future Just Got Bigger 🌱🏁

NASCAR legend Richard Petty donates 403 acres to Victory Junction—a life-changing camp for kids with serious illnesses. Hope grows here! 🌳🏆

Richard Petty, known to NASCAR fans as “The King,” has extended his legacy of generosity far beyond the racetrack with a monumental gift of 403 acres to Victory Junction. The camp in Randleman, NC, provides a life-changing experience for children with severe medical conditions, ensuring they can simply be kids—no barriers, no limits, just joy.

This donation is a natural extension of the Petty family’s long-standing commitment to Victory Junction. The camp was founded in 2004, and Richard and his late wife, Lynda, donated the land. Their grandson, Adam Petty, inspired its creation, who envisioned a place where children facing immense challenges could experience the joys of summer camp after visiting a similar facility in 1999. Tragically, Adam passed away in 2000, but his family rallied to bring his dream to life.

“When I see the joy and the smiles this camp brings to kids and their families, I can still feel Adam’s giving spirit and see his smile,” Kyle Petty, Adam’s father, said in a statement. “I want to make sure the camp is here in 100 years, and we hope this gift inspires others to support Victory Junction so it remains a place of joy for generations to come.”

Victory Junction spans 140 acres and has been a haven for children facing daily battles that most of us can’t imagine. Now, with an additional 403 acres—comprising eight adjacent parcels—the possibilities for growth and impact are boundless.

“We are dedicated to leaving a legacy,” Richard Petty said in a release. “With this donation, we hope to ensure the camp can continue serving even more children for generations to come.”

Victory Junction Board Chair Mark Curran added, “As we envision the future of camp, the land will remain a topic of strategic discussions. We will be sure to use this thoughtful gift in ways that both secure the future of camp and provide even more life-changing camp experiences for children.”

What’s next for the land? While the plans are still under development, one thing is clear: the gift underscores the Petty family’s enduring commitment to empowering children and making a meaningful impact. As Kyle Petty eloquently put it, “The smiles we see here every day remind us why this camp exists—and why it must continue to exist.”
